Senior

I'm Bernadette Razo, a senior at Pacific Grove High School taking AP Portfolio Art. I believe art is like a universal language that connects people globally, transcending cultural boundaries. I find my inspiration in colorful landscapes and my life experiences. I work with different art tools, like acrylic paints, water-based oil paints, and alcohol markers, to create a variety of visual effects. Mixing different materials, known as mixed media, lets me try out new artistic expressions. I started experimenting more with my art when I had a shortage of colored markers, and it got me excited about exploring alternative mediums.  One of my art pieces I have created so far is a vibrant sunset landscape. This shows my creative visions as an artist.

This work of art that Iā€™m displaying is called, 'A Magical Window,' and it's inspired by 19th-century Spanish toy theaters. These small theaters used paper cutouts and cool designs to make affordable, creative storytelling. They weren't just entertaining; they also helped people appreciate theater. For this piece, I used colorful paper and cardstock to create framing panels, along with acrylic paint,  colored pencils and fabric.
