My name is Aliyah Velarde, I’m 17, and I am currently attending Soledad High School. Growing up, I have found myself in love with every kind of art there is from music, sculpting, to painting. I love to make art pieces in which the viewer is able to see exactly what I am trying to express through the artwork.

Through my experience making this art piece, I was able to represent the bird struggling to escape the darkness of climate change and pollution. This art piece carries a message about the state of our environment becoming increasingly dangerous to every animal on earth because of Earth becoming more polluted every day. The colorful bird resembles the hope and beauty that can be easily taken away from this world. The bird's colors represent the experiences it has had in its lifetime. Given that the colors are very beautifully put together, we can infer that the bird has had many wonderful memories.
