Art is a calming activity and an emotional outlet, especially when expressing my appreciation for art and entertainment media. My drawing ideas often come from captivating works like music, shows, movies, and books.
I enjoy the creative process and the endless possibilities of making art, particularly adding meaningful details inspired by shows, movies, or books. By doing this, I hope to capture some of the depth found in these complex and wonderfully crafted media.
My current work is inspired by Yellowjackets, particularly its complex concept introduced in the first episode, enhanced by its wonderful cinematography. The depth of the characters, rich symbolism that encapsulates the psychological aspect of the show, and striking imagery deeply captivate me, sparking ideas for art pieces.
I typically work with acrylic paint, appreciating the ability to build layers until satisfied, and watercolors, where transparency adds depth. For this artwork, I chose gouache because it combines the layering capabilities of acrylics with the depth-enhancing transparency of watercolors. Gouache allows me to capture both the solid presence and ethereal qualities that I want to capture with this artwork.
