Jonathan Corralco
Rancho Cielo High School, Senior
My name is Jonathan Corralco. I go to Rancho Cielo High School. One person who inspires me is my girlfriend's talent to draw. Without help, she can do it by eye very well and sometimes even better than the photo itself. The painting shows two birds resting together on a log with trees in the background. The birds represent me and my girlfriend, symbolizing companionship, trust, and support. Sitting on the log reflects being grounded and stable in my life. While the birds themselves suggest freedom and growth, the trees in the background represent strength, time and the natural environment that surrounds and shapes us. Overall, this piece is about connection, balance, and feeling rooted while moving forward together. I want the viewer to see how trusting some people can make a big difference when you work with someone and not alone. This can also mean, that at the same time, the bird's natural ability to fly reminds us that being grounded does not limit growth; instead, it creates a foundation from which growth and independence can happen.
