I love to create art as it allows me to express my own interpretation of my surroundings, making every piece unique and meaningful to me. My work reflects my appreciation for nature, emphasizing the beauty and mysterious aspect behind it. I am an advocate for sustainability and focus on environmental consciousness, so my work is a way to represent this attitude in a way that involves my passion for creating.
I have used a variety of mediums and techniques but some of my favorite works were done with acrylic and colored pencil. I have yet to experiment with different art styles, but I tend to focus on landscapes and am inspired by photos or spaces that highlight the beauty of nature. I also enjoy painting with higher viscosity paints, creating textures, shadows, and depth.
My most recent piece, “Forest of Faces” is one of my creations where I attempt to personify nature. My goal with this piece was to as this was my first time working on a wooden canvas, proving difficulties with layering and blending. The paint would dry up quicker than on stretched canvas, making it hard to blend wet paint together. I also like to layer acrylic, but on this canvas the texture of each layer was unintentionally emphasized and therefore made some parts of the painting look “busy” and distracts the viewer when it reflects the light. Nevertheless, “Forest of Faces” was one of three that I have created in which nature is given a face and expression. The calming nature of our wonderful environment is represented through the closed eyes of each tree, symbolizing compassion and understanding.
