Elliott Peartree

Youth Arts Collective, Junior

I’ve been at YAC for two years and have worked with glass as a medium for more than four years; learning the processes of cold and cast glass. I thoroughly enjoy the creation of glass art and spending time with my mentor, Kathy Little, who has guided me. What originally started as an extracurricular activity has become a passion.

After learning to cast I decided to design and build a glass sword. Unfortunately the cast for the blade failed and I was left with three smaller sections. After restoring one of the sections I decided to make a knife with it and made a mold for a handle. The mold for the handle shattered but the cracks formed the handle into something even better than the original. What resulted from all this is what I believe to be a truly unique piece of art.
