Ximena Lucio, Where Butterflies Rise, acrylic, $1,000
Ximena Lucio
Rancho Cielo High School, Senior
My name is Ximena Lucio. I go to school at Rancho Cielo. A person who inspires me into doing art is my brother Jose. An eye opening thing I have learned throughout my art is that you can put anything in it, your feelings, something hidden, or an illusion. Anything you want, you can make in art. What I want my viewer to learn from my piece is that change is good. There are redwood trees from the perspective of looking up from the ground. This viewpoint represents stability and endurance, while the butterflies flying around them symbolize change, growth, and freedom. Together, they reflect the balance between things that stay the same and things that are always changing. This piece is about personal growth and appreciating the beauty of nature. While making this art piece, I thought about the changes and challenges that I'm going through right now since I am only eighteen years old.
